How to Reheat Nando’s Chicken (& Other Nando’s Classics)

So your eyes were bigger than your belly, and you ordered way too much Nando’s last night. Don’t worry. It happens to the best of us.

Today I’m going to tell you how to reheat your Nando’s the next day, so it’s hot, moist and tastes fresh again.

And don’t think I’m going to stop at just the peri-peri chicken. Oh no. I’m going to tell you how to reheat Nando’s burgers, wraps, pittas, chips and rice too!

The best way to reheat Nando’s chicken

The best way to reheat Nando’s chicken is in an air fryer:

Step 1) Remove chicken from the fridge and allow it to get up to room temperature (if you want it to be moist).

Step 2) Preheat the air fryer for 5 mins at 180°C.

Step 3) If you have any Nando’s sauce, whack a bit on. Otherwise, a drop of oil, even water & Frylight will help add moisture.

Step 4) Add the chicken to the air fryer but make sure there is room for the hot air to circulate. If you’re reheating a lot of Nando’s chicken, split it into batches.

Step 5) Cook the chicken in the air fryer for 5-8 minutes or until steaming hot (internal temperature of 75°C). Increase time for larger cuts such as 1/4 and 1/2 or whole chicken.

OK, I get it. You’re not all on the air fryer train yet. (You’re missing out!)

Here’s how to reheat Nando’s chicken using more traditional kitchen appliances:

How to reheat Nando’s chicken in the microwave

Step 1) Remove chicken from the fridge and allow it to get up to room temperature (if you want it to be moist).

Step 2) Cut the chicken into smaller, equally sized pieces removing any bones. Arrange evenly on a microwave-proof plate.

Step 3) Add chicken stock to the plate to prevent the chicken from drying out (water will do if you don’t have any stock).

Step 4) Cover the chicken with a microwave-safe lid or damp kitchen roll and cook for 30 seconds per 100g of Nando’s chicken.

Step 5) Times will vary based on the amount of chicken and the wattage of your microwave. If the chicken has not reached 75°C after the time is up, nuke it in 30 seconds bursts until the chicken is steaming hot.

How to reheat Nando’s chicken wings

The best way to reheat Nando’s chicken wings is to heat them in the air fryer at 180°C for 5-6 mins. Do not crowd the basket. The air needs to be able to get around them.

To avoid the wings drying out, remove them from the fridge and allow them to get up to room temperature before you reheat them. Add some Nando’s sauce or sprinkle some water on them, too.

If you don’t have an air fryer, you can reheat your Nando’s chicken wings using any of the methods for reheating Nando’s chicken we detailed above. Just reduce the timings slightly.

How to reheat Nando’s chips

Now that we’ve got your chicken back to juicy goodness let’s get those chips hot and crispy. This reheating method will work with regular Nando’s Chips, and Nando’s PERi-Salted Chips (a.k.a Nando’s spicy fries)

To reheat Nando’s chips, arrange them in a single layer in an air fryer at 180°C for 3-6 minutes. They should be piping hot. Check the chips after 3 mins and add more time to make them more crispy.

To make your Nando’s chips extra crispy, spray them with Frylight before you reheat them.

Do not reheat the chicken and chips together. That will make the chips soggy.

How to reheat a Nando’s burger

No sane human being wants to eat a cold burger, so let’s reheat that Chicken Burger.

To reheat your Nando’s Chicken burger, first, take the lid off the bun and scrape the sauce off the chicken breast and onto the bun lid. Remove the chicken breast, sprinkle it with a bit of water, and then reheat in an air fryer at 180°C for 6 mins or until it reaches an internal temperature of 75°C. Reassemble your Nando’s Chicken Burger and enjoy!

If your Nando’s brioche bun has gotten soggy during storage, scrape off all the sauce, wrap the top and bottom in tin foil separately and throw them in the air fryer for 2 mins.

If you don’t have an air fryer, you can use the method for reheating Nando’s chicken in the oven at the top of this page. The buns can go in the oven the same way as the air fryer.

How to reheat a Nando’s Grilled Chicken Pitta

To reheat your Nando’s pitta, first, remove all the chicken pieces and scrape any other filling off and back into the pitta. Add the chicken pieces into the basket of an air fryer, sprinkle on a few drops of water and reheat at 180°C for 3-5 minutes or until piping hot (temperature of 75°C). Return to the pitta and enjoy.

If you want to reheat the pitta bread, scrape out as much of the filling as possible into a temporary container. Preheat a flat bottomed frying pan on high until the pan starts to smoke, then drop the pita bread into the pan and cook for 10 seconds per side.

If you don’t have an air fryer, you can use any other methods for reheating Nando’s chicken at the top of this page.

How to reheat a Nando’s Grilled Chicken Wrap

To reheat your Nando’s wrap, first, unwrap and remove all the chicken pieces and scrape off any other filling back onto the wrap. Add the chicken pieces into the basket of an air fryer, sprinkle on a few drops of water and reheat at 180°C for 3-5 minutes or until piping hot (temperature of 75°C). Return to the wrap, roll and enjoy!

If you want to heat up the wrap, scrape off as much of the filling as possible into a temporary container. Preheat a flat bottomed frying pan on high until the pan starts to smoke, then drop the wrap (outside down!) into the pan and cook for 12 seconds.

How to reheat Nando’s Spicy Rice

To reheat your Nando’s rice, transfer the portion of rice into a microwavable container, add a tablespoon of water, cover and microwave for 2 minutes then check if it’s steaming hot throughout. If not return to the microwave for 30 seconds bursts until the rice reaches a temperature of 75°C.
